Dr. Fırat Selvi has graduated from Istanbul University, School of Dentistry in June, 2002. He has completed his oral surgery residency & PhD programs simultaneously in the same university’s Dept. of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery in July, 2008 and later became a faculty member here. He has earned his “associate professor’s degree” in October, 2014.
In between 2011-2012, he has completed a “Clinical Investigation Fellowship” affiliated with Harvard University, Schools of Medicine & Dental Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital, Dept. of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Boston, USA. During this fellowship, he was accepted to the “Summer Program in Clinical Effectiveness” organized by Harvard School of Public Health, where he has taken courses on biostatistics and how to implement scientific research.
In between July 2014 and July 2016, he was once again accepted to the Massachusetts General Hospital, Dept. of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, this time as a “Senior Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Resident” and served full-time in the clinical setting for 2 years. Within this residency program, he has rotated as the ‘Chief Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Resident’ at Boston Children’s Hospital, Plastic & Oral Surgery Department in between November 2015 and March 2016. Both of these centers’ training programs provided full scope oral & maxillofacial procedures.
Since July 2016, he has returned to Istanbul and continues to be an attending surgeon at Istanbul University, School of Dentistry, Dept. of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery.
He is active members of the American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery (AAOMS), International Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery (IAOMS), American Dental Education Association (ADEA), Turkish Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery (TAOMS) and Ağız ve Çene-Yüz Cerrahisi Birliği Derneği (AÇBİD).
His major clinical interest topics are orthognathic surgery, lingual nerve injuries and their microneurosurgical repairs, facial traumatology, dental implantology and dento-alveolar surgeries.
